Common Questions

Can we tour the venue before booking?

Yes. We encourage private tours so couples and clients can walk the space, ask questions, and see how everything flows in person.


What types of events do you host?

Southside Acres hosts intimate weddings, elopements, micro weddings, wedding receptions, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, retirement parties, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, reunions, corporate gatherings, holiday parties, celebrations of life, and other private events.

Our indoor and outdoor wedding and event venue in Marshfield, Missouri, was intentionally designed for smaller, meaningful celebrations throughout Springfield and surrounding Southwest Missouri areas.


How many guests can the venue hold?

Southside Acres is designed for intimate weddings and events. Standard wedding packages include up to 50 guests, with an optional guest upgrade available for 51–100 guests.


Do you host more than one wedding or event per day?

For 12-hour rentals, we only host one wedding or event per day to ensure each couple has a relaxed and fully supported experience. Elopements, half-day, and hourly rentals may occasionally have multiple bookings scheduled around availability.


Is the venue climate controlled?

Yes. Our indoor wedding and event venue is fully heated and air-conditioned for year-round comfort. Southside Acres also has a backup generator for added peace of mind during your wedding, reception, or event.


Can we use both indoor and outdoor spaces?

Yes. Many couples and clients use both indoor and outdoor spaces throughout their event for ceremonies, cocktail hours, receptions, and gatherings.


Is there parking onsite?

Yes. Convenient onsite parking is available for guests.


Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Southside Acres offers handicap-accessible walkways and easy movement throughout the venue.


Are children welcome and are you family friendly?

Absolutely. Southside Acres is designed to be family-friendly while still offering an elevated and relaxed event experience. We do have a few high chairs available upon request and a baby changing station in the restroom.

We welcome guests of all ages and abilities.


Are there getting ready spaces available?

Yes. Upstairs private suites are available for getting ready, relaxing, and preparing throughout your event. There are 2 rooms. 


Is there a kitchen available?

Yes. Southside Acres includes access to a full prep kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, ice maker, pot filler, oven, microwave, dishwasher, granite countertops, and hosting supplies to help make food prep and serving easier during your event.

The kitchen also includes knives, cutting boards, spoon rests, drink dispensers, cake and pie servers, serving utensils, tongs, and other helpful hosting items — with more being added as the venue continues to grow.


Do you allow outside catering or food?

Yes. Clients are welcome to bring in their own caterers, food, desserts, and beverages for their event. Our full prep kitchen helps make food setup and serving easier throughout your celebration.

We do not provide food or drinks with our packages, only limited serving and hosting items.


Are tables, chairs, and linens included?

Yes. Tables, chairs, linens, setup, and teardown are included with venue rentals.


How does setup and cleanup work?

Base setup is completed prior to arrival, and venue teardown is included after your event. Rental time includes setup, decorating, event time, cleanup, and removal of belongings.


Can we decorate the venue or leave items overnight?

Yes. Clients are welcome to decorate during their rental time. Some décor restrictions apply to protect the venue and property. Glitter, foil confetti, and confetti cannons are not permitted.

Overnight storage and next-day pickup are not permitted unless approved in writing prior to the event.


Are rehearsals included?

A 1-hour weekday rehearsal is included with Intimate Wedding and Signature Wedding packages. Additional rehearsal or extended venue time may also be added based on availability.


Can we bring our own vendors, photographer, or officiant?

Yes. Couples and clients are welcome to bring their own vendors, photographer, and officiant if preferred. Some vendors and outside photographers may be required to provide proof of insurance.

Photography is also available through Abigail Troy Photography, owned by Southside Acres founder Jessica.

We also work with several trusted officiants, giving couples flexibility and reliable availability.


Do you provide music or speaker options?

Yes. Southside Acres offers a speaker system for couples and clients wanting a simple DIY music setup during their wedding or event.

Outside DJs, musicians, and entertainment services are also welcome if preferred.


Do you require event insurance?

Event insurance may be required depending on the event type, vendors, guest count, activities, or alcohol service plans.

We highly encourage all clients to purchase event insurance to help provide coverage in the event of cancellations, emergencies, weather-related issues, or other unforeseen circumstances outside of anyone’s control.


Do you allow pets, bounce houses, or inflatables?

Pets, inflatables, bounce houses, water slides, petting zoos, and similar activities may be allowed with prior approval. Certain activities may require proof of vendor insurance and additional safety requirements.


Can we use candles, sparklers, or fireworks?

Battery-operated candles are encouraged. Candles used during religious ceremonies and standard birthday candles are permitted.

Certain candles, fire pits, sparklers, and special effects may be approved with prior permission depending on safety conditions and event setup. Fireworks and pyrotechnics may be restricted.


What happens if it rains?

Southside Acres offers both indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing flexibility for weather changes. Outdoor activities may be adjusted or moved indoors if needed due to weather or safety conditions.


How do payments work?

A 25% non-refundable retainer and signed agreement are required to reserve your date. Final balances are due 30 days prior to the event unless otherwise approved in writing. Payment plans may be available for qualifying bookings.
